  1. Treat anxiety and stress: symptoms associated with anxiety such as nervousness, restlessness, and dizziness have been offset with the use of Kava Kava, as many studies have shown3, 5. One study found that Kava Kava substantially improved symptoms of anxiety after only one week of treatment3. Heart palpitations stemming from panic attacks have also been treated with Kava Kava.
  2. Relieve depression: results of some studies suggest Kava Kava may be as effective as certain anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications, without the harmful side effects2, 4.
  3. Improve recovery from stroke: Due to Kava Kavas ability to limit the damaged area of the brain, it can protect against brain damage resulting from ischemia and provide an anti-convulsive effect5. As a result it can help with stroke recovery.
  4. Treat menopause: Two groups of 20 women with menopause related symptoms were treated with Kava Kava (70% kavalactone extract) over an eight-week period, in a double blind study6.

From the first week, symptoms (which included hot flashes) improve significantly throughout the eight-week period. Mood and overall well-being had improved in all women.
